Concern for Community
At Glades Electric Cooperative, we are proud of our ongoing commitment to the community as we abide by the principle of Concern for Community, one of the seven cooperative principles. We sponsor a variety of school athletic teams, community events, educational initiatives, and contribute to community organizations. We are proud to serve the people in our beautiful Florida Heartland not only by providing electricity to homes and businesses, but also through financial support of community endeavors. It’s just one more way we are proud to be Neighbors Working for Neighbors.

If you’re a golfer, don’t miss this opportunity to play for a good cause with a chance to win prizes. Glades Electric Cooperative is proud to host the fifth annual Powered for a Cause Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 6th at the Country Club of Sebring to benefit The Miracle League for Highlands County. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The cost is $65 per player or $260 per team. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, and lunch. Players will have the opportunity to win door prizes and enter a 50/50 raffle.
The Miracle League of Highlands County provides an opportunity for those with cognitive and/or physical challenges to play Miracle League baseball and participate in other recreational opportunities. The league is for children and adults ages 3 and up. Miracle League baseball is a noncompetitive league. Everyone bats, scores, plays in the field, and all games end in a tie. Players are given a buddy or “Angel in the Outfield” to assist with batting, running, and fielding the balls. There is no cost to families except transportation to the Miracle League field at the Lake June ball fields in Lake Placid.
