Special Billing Programs

Levelized Billing:
Because members normally experience seasonal fluctuations in electrical usage, Glades Electric Cooperative offers a plan that makes monthly charges consistent throughout the year. This is called the levelized billing plan. It is computed by averaging the electrical usage for the most recent twelve months and charging that average all through the year. Ask your Customer Service Representative to determine if you qualify and if the plan fits your situation.

Delayed Billing - For Senior Citizens or Disabled Members:
If our billing schedule does not fit the date when a senior citizen or a disabled member receives his/her compensation check, he/she should investigate the Delayed Billing Program. To qualify for this service, a member must be (1) 62 years or older and receiving social security benefits as his/her primary income or (2) receiving disability compensation as his/her primary income. Applicants must provide written and current proof of their income and their official status. If applying for disability consideration, the member must provide proof by presenting a letter from a certified medical physician, written within the last 30 days or proof that disability compensation is the primary income.

Statement Billing:
For members who maintain several GEC accounts listed under the same name, this billing program offers a convenience and a savings. Under this program the member receives one consolidated bill showing the location of each service, the usage and dollar amount due for energy used at that service. A combined total of all amounts due is listed at the bottom of the statement. The member can write one check yet still have information needed about each account. Multiple-account members can combine this service with the Automatic Bank Draft to make monthly bill paying much faster and more convenient.

Seasonal Billing:
For members in good standing who have permanent service for a maximum of six months during the year, the Seasonal Billing Program allows them to pay a low monthly fee ($3.00) to keep the service active (connected) while they are away from their property. This plan is a savings to the member because it eliminates the need and the fees for GEC to disconnect and reconnect the service upon the member’s departure and return. For this fee the member is allowed 200 kWhs per month during the absence. The member is assured that his/her electricity will be active on the designated date of his/her return to his/her property.

Guidelines for this program are very specific:
1. The main breaker should be in off position unless… 2. You wish to leave one light on, shut off all other breakers including the water heater. 3. Notify GEC when to begin the program, your expected return date and your address for bill forwarding purposes. 4. All kWh usage is your responsibility. If you allow someone to use your home during your absence, the increased usage may cause you to automatically revert to the standard residential rate. 5. Any special monthly charges will continue unchanged. 6. When you return, your power will be on and will automatically revert to permanent service assoon as your meter records usage in excess of 200 kWhs.
